Skippy pursued studies in Business Management at Gallaudet University, a prestigious private college in Washington, DC, serving the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. He also explored Political Science at Ohlone College in Fremont and delved into Architecture at Fresno City College in Fresno, gaining valuable insights and perspectives from each institution before stepping away due to financial and personal circumstances. Outside of work, Skippy enjoys listening to music, tackling handyman projects, and exploring hiking trails with his girlfriend, Tess, and their two beloved dogs, a German Shepherd and a Siberian Husky. A tech enthusiast and an avid, die-hard Alabama Crimson Tide football fan, he brings passion and versatility to every aspect of his life. With over 26 years of experience as an Outreach Specialist in the state of California, Skippy has devoted his career to supporting individuals with diverse disabilities. Now, as an Employment Specialist at AEG, he is enthusiastic about helping ASL Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals navigate their career journeys, providing guidance and resources to empower them in achieving their professional goals. Her first "job," job coaching was in 1st first grade where she took a classmate with a disability under her wing and helped him navigate the school system. She later used all of her elective periods from 7th to 12th grade working in the Special Education classes as a mentor. People's differences, their similarities, their choices, their personalities. Sometimes it takes a variety to make a good collection. The same goes for people." – Colleen Hoover. Gabby has many years of experience working in Special Education and has worked with students at various ages to help them achieve their goals. Her passion has always been to work with people with disabilities and feels the most joy doing what she does. In High school Gabby took some ASL classes and found herself diving deep into the community. Although it has been sometime, she still is excited to carry on conversations when she can in Sign Language. She recently became a mother to her son and is loving every moment she gets with him. Student & Adult Work Experiences DOR Student and Adult Work Experience provides a work-based learning opportunity. DOR Student and Adult Work Experience is a work-based learning experience that offers participants the opportunity to explore competitive integrated work experiences in a variety of real time work settings. Through the Adult Work Experience, clients build confidence while learning specific job skills. GAIN EXPERIENCE BUILD SKILLS GAIN CONFIDENCE EMPLOYER REFERENCES EXPLORE CAREERS RECEIVE PAY & MANAGE FINANCES Section Title Work Experience Process Intake Clients who are referred to us by the DOR or another partner will be assigned an Employment Specialist (ES). The ES will contact the client via phone or email. This first meeting is approximately 1 hour long. The ES will take this time to get to know the client, his/her goals, and any accommodations necessary. Worksite Development An Employment Specialist will consider your skills and passions to present suitable worksite options. They will collaborate closely with your worksite to ensure they are prepared to support you, while also working with you to ensure you have all the resources and tools needed for success in your Work Experience. Worksite Placement Once your Employment Specialist coordinates a suitable work schedule with both you and the worksite, you will complete 100 hours of Work Experience. Let's Chat. She graduated from Santa Clara University with a B.A. in English and Political Science, and she also holds an M.A. in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from the University of San Diego. She serves as a Coach with Special Olympics Northern California and her work ranges from offering direct support to individuals with disabilities to collaborating with organizations to improve accessibility and inclusivity.
